You make think I'm going a bit soft because I found Zion National Park to be quite spiritual and moving.
Zion is a high rocky desert through which flows a river. Spectacular orange and gold mountains look down on the vividly green valley floor. Hidden springs seep out of rock walls, providing a habitat for ferns, columbines and hummingbirds.
Even in the desert, which just seems rocky and dusty, cacti flowers appear which seem so fragile they look to be made from tissue paper. Lizards, chipmunks and butterflies are abundant, and deer graze in the meadows and trees of the valley floor.
A really special place.
