Fight Night

Saturday night Christa and I went to the Lumpinee Boxing stadium and took our first tuk tuk ride. For those of you who do not know what a tuk tuk is, it's a three wheeled moped with a cover and a back seat with enough room for two or five people depending on need. It is a wild ride and I suggest everyone try it at least once. While not for the faint of heart or those looking to see the sights in safety, it is fun. Once we arrived at the stadium, we received the ringside tickets that our lovely hotel purchased for us in advance. The first few fights were between guys around 100 lbs., they looked to be about 15 but hit like grown men. The first few fights were a little slow with a lot of locking up... by the fifth match, the guys were using a lot of hard kicks and punches. The main event, on the other hand, had blood drawn within the fist 30 seconds. The fighters hit, kicked and elbowed incredibly hard-- it was fantastic and an excellent example of Muay Thai Boxing. We had a great time. I highly recommend seeing this event if you're ever in Thailand.
