Items shown are quintessentially Irish. What are they? Cut pieces of peat, used for heating and as a peat fire for drying Barley Malt for Whisky making. YEAH Glen! -- you're absolutely right it's a pile of cut peat. They cut it (dig it out), leave it out to dry for 6-12 months, then store it in a peat shed, using it as needed in the fireplace. I owe you a glass of whiskey!
