Not having seen a glacier up close we (alex, rhonda and me) booked ourselves on day excursion to the Viedma glacier just 45 mins from El Chalten. It was great. After a short boat trip and a brief scramble over the terminal morraine, we donned our crampons and explored the glacier led by our tour guides. It was a great experience seeing the vast crevices, ice caves, and holes in the ice. The day was ended by having a Baileys with ice from the glacier.
