We spent a night in a car park in Street, a village just
south of Glastonbury (and where some Bockett’s lived in the 1400’s) ready
for our morning balloon flight over Glastonbury. But alas, it was cancelled due
to icky weather. Street has a huge factory clearance village that is actually
quite nicely done for something that is essentially a huge consumer-oriented
mall.
We drove up to Bristol to visit Dan, who Nick originally
meet at Glastonbury two years ago. Then he and his cousin Tom came to visit us
in Christchurch on their Grand Tour last year. They’re both great guys and
loads of laughs.
Dan was supposed to be going to friends for dinner but
changed the plan and decided to cook Indian food (learned from his Grandmother)
for us all – and there ended up being 15 people! It was an ambitious attempt
and he pulled it off. And we had the added bonus of learning to make bhajis.
Yum!
Over the next few days we were spoilt to ruination! One of Dan’s
flatmates, Harry, who owns the place, has it kitted out beautifully – complete
with table football and pinball. With running water and the most modern of mod
cons we almost didn’t leave! There’s an almost constant stream of quality
persons through the door and it was a good chance to rest the sore toe. But
alas, eventually we had to go – to Bath.
