Up @7:30 this morning, but I still waited for the 10:50 bus. No way will I skip a big inclusive breakfast & good coffee! Plus it's the only time of the day I get wifi! I waited in Positano for the next bus toward Amalfi ( bought groceries in the meantime) & got off at the Grotta dello Smeraldo-the emerald grotto. Now - I didn't visit the famous blue grotto in Capri, but I can't imagine that it is too much different from this one. It's basically an enclosed cave, you get in a boat but don't go very far. The light enters the grotto from a hole in the rock underneath the water & creates this blue(not really emerald) water. It's so clear you can see to the bottom. There are stalactites dripping from the ceiling and an underwater nativity set. Plus, unlike the blue grotto, its cheaper, you are in there for longer than 2 minutes, and the boatman doesn't sing to you (like I said, I didn't go to the Blue Grotto, but this is what I've heard).  I waited for the bus again & got off in Praiano, hoping to visit the pretty little church there, but there was a wedding taking place. So much for that plan. I didn't explore, just decided to hop the next bus to Positano. And what else is there to do in Positano but get gelato, stare out at the sea, and stroll the streets? At some point I had to decide to get on the next bus to Nocelle, or wait around for 2 hrs. So of course I got on the packed bus, returned to Nocelle, and spent the remainder of the afternoon hiking. I wanted to go further up the mountain, but eventually the trail turned into cliff and hiking switched to mountain climbing, which I was not equipped for. So now for a quiet evening, same meal as last night but with the addition of fennel.
