Day 56
AUSTRALIA | Thursday, 11 August 2011 | Views [318]
We had an uneventful trip from Clairview (where the sandflies bite) to Yeppoon, except that the GPS sent us on a short cut which was not ideal for a caravan. The caravan park is actually at Kinka Beach about 13kms from Yeppoon and one can see Great Keppel Island from the front of the park. After lunch we went into Yeppoon to do a little shopping and then investigated the town buying some treats at the bakery. We went up to a lookout for the views along the coast and out to the islands but the light was not good for photographs. Aspects of the area remind us of the bluff at Encounter Bay and also the holiday shacks at Goolwa. We drove back to the park via the Scenic Drive along the coast and there were bluffs, marinas and a large river. The park is divided into an established area with lawns and cement areas for annexes, and the bush paddock out the back, with less organised grounds. Tonight we are in the bush paddock but we are moving to a proper site tomorrow morning!
