For one reason or another, I've been keeping up my morning routine of reading my Canadian news on canoe.ca and globeandmail.com. Today, I came across this photo gallery: http://calsun.canoe.ca/News/gallery/afgshots/2009/02/05/8282516.html
It's a collection of photos from a Canadian soldier on his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. With my love and appreciation of photography, Afghan culture, and debate (see my previous post "A Different Kind of Remembrance Day: Casualties of the Innocent" and subsequent comments), I found this gallery to be an interesting medium. Even though its focal point is obviously Canadian soldiers and their efforts (which is not a bad thing; every art form has its own biases), photography in general has a way of letting people see a bit of the world through the eyes of another and then form their own ideas and perspectives about what's going on in the scene.
