Week 32: Which is about nothing

UNITED KINGDOM | Friday, 28 October 2011 | Views [376]

The Queen wandered around my home country last week which I suppose it was only fair after I’ve been wandering around her home country for the last couple of months. Hearing about the Queen’s visit from a British point of view really makes me wish we were a republic already. All this nonsense about the Queen being close to Australia and watching it grow from a fledging country to what it is today, when really the most influence she’s had on the country is having her head on the coins.  I’m pretty sure the monarchy thinks of Australia as much as Australians think of them – except in times of Royal Weddings! :P

Last week was my final work shift as an event staff. Quite surprisingly I was depressed after my final shift, and it wasn’t from having to wear painful heels either or the amount of steak and salmon that when to waste that night! That was a real tragedy!! All those poor starving children in Africa and Latin America!  What a waste!

I went to see Wicked (the musical) again. Unlike the Australian version, the poms don’t put on American accents, but use their own. We must be more adaptable or easily converted, but I do think it’s a wasted effort putting on any accent for a musical because the audience will generally be there for the music (or in the case of tweenyboppers – the actors). There’s no need to say that the show was brilliant! As always. I can’t wait to see it performed on Broadway, if I ever get around to visiting North America.

Aside from that watched I was Spooks (so naturally I’m seeing suspicious people loitering about everywhere), tried not to lose my temper when workmen were coming into my room to decide how best to turn it into a bathroom – I haven’t left yet people! and tried to attend film premieres. But I’ll get to that in my next entry :)
