The whales we encountered on the way to my first dive

Here's the enchanting moment when we were on Playita and saw whales out in the ocean. Three boats were following them, and one playful whale kept waving its tail up and down on the surface, what a sight!

There was a 2-day fisherman's festival end of July. On the first day, all the boats were decorated and there was a regatta, where anyone could board the boats; they sailed from Puerto Lopez to Manchalilla, a nearby fishing port, and back. In the evening was a beauty pageant followed by a major fiesta of music and dancing. All the fishermen were so drunk, no boats went out for three days!
