A brilliant "clock" created hundreds (maybe even thousands?) years ago that told both time and season by the shadow cast by the rod based on the sun's position. It's on the equator, and this side faces the Northern Hemisphere. Here it tells us the time is around 3:20 (where shadow is) and it's before summer solstice (because this side is facing the sun).

The equator museum also included a brief exhibit on a indigenous tribe in the Amazon that took the head of their enemies, shrank them, and wore as jewelry. I could think of a few people I'd want to do that to...

This is the Southern Hemisphere facing side of the clock. It's completely dark because it's not yet summer solstice; after then, this side will be lit by the sun and the other side will go dark.
