A life less ordinary What started out as 12months in Sydney has turned into a great adventure - taking in Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and now 'home' in Dubai.

A rare weekend

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES | Sunday, 14 November 2010 | Views [631]

Since I have been in Oman, time together has been pretty sparse and we're trying to fit in as much as possible. Last week when I went home we explored more of Bur Dubai which was great - just being able to walk around was nice and the temperature is just lush at the moment. We went for brunch/lunch at the Montgomery Golf Course on the Friday, again we sat outside and overlooked the course, the food was all yummy seafood although I think we both drank a little too much...a little afternoon nap was required!

Being the 5th November we were invited by Ness and Ally to go to fireworks at a hotel in the marina, which was good and unlike any fireworks night I have EVER been too! Seriously - full banquet outside, fire eaters and blowers, wierd dancing midget puppets, donkey rides and instant bonfire and only 2 minutes of fireworks!!!

We are coming into EID holidays here so most of the middle east closes down - I am heading back to Dubai for a few days mid week for a much needed break. The project is massive and pretty unrelenting which can be hard when everyone is living out of a hotel and working 15 hours a day! Anyways - it will pay off eventually and I got paid so SHOPPING here we come.

Daire seems to be having fun getting up to mischief with Ally - go carting, boys bbq's, he has even gone to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this week. Perhaps the next update he will do - he has bought himself a posh new camera so expect plenty of expert pictures from him.

Anyways thats all we are up to - I have had a few requests for addres etc - we are currently using Ally's office address until Daire gets his office up and running. So please address everything to Daire Gilmore C/O Alistair Batten!!!

Finally HAPPY BIRTHDAY to KATE, MUM, CHERYL and SARAH!!! Sorry we can't be there to celebrate with you.
