Phi Phi, Oui Oui!!: We arrived by boat from Krabi in the afternoon. As we sailed into the pier we could see our hotel nearby so we rocked on past all the hotel reps trying to sell accommodation on the pier front and on into our hotel so we could go check out the island. The island is quite small but buzzing with tourists all set for sun, sea, sand and sang sum buckets. It’s exactly what it looks like in the travel brochures with the tropical waters and long tail boats on hand to bring you where you want to go. It’s great and just what we needed after all the go go go in Chiang Mai.
Wilsonnnnnn…!!: Chilled out on the beach for a few days. May have gotten a tad burnt the first day because it was quite cloudy and I just might have not listened to Jim when he told me to put on sun cream. He hasn’t stopped calling me ‘Pinky’ since and singing ‘Pinky and the brain, one is a genius and the others insane’…. For the oldies that’s from the cartoon Pinky and the Brain. That night we watched a fire show on the beach while we sipped a bucket of Kamikaze cocktail with the tide washing up under our feet. Paradise! The next morning we kayaked out to Monkey Beach to catch a glimpse of a monkey hanging out on the beach. We felt like Tom Hanks in Castaway out in the middle of the sea kayaking from beach to beach. It was great craic.
Finding Leo!: Phi Phi Island tour day today. We caught Blue Sky tours with a crew of other tourists and headed for the seas. First stop Viking Cave along the coast of Phi Phi for a bit of history, then onto the ‘Boat Lagoon’ for some boat jumping, next stop Maya Bay to see if Leonardo DiCaprio was still knocking about at all, then onto Monkey Beach for some snorkelling, next up Mosquito Island for some more snorkelling where we saw some beautiful coral, last up then to watch the sunset we headed onto Bamboo Island where we also got some boat jumping and snorkelling in too! O and we passed Camel Island/Rock on the way too and got a few snaps. Great day had by all. Snorkelling with fins and a mask in around all the tropical fish was amazing. Delighted we had bought an underwater camera to catch a few pics! Off to the Irish bar to meet a few from the tour that night for a few buckets. Followed closely by the Reggae Bar to catch some Thai kickboxing and then off to the beach to end the night. K O!!
Buckets are evil!!: Hangover day today. Roll on tomorrow!!
Back friends with alcohol: Didn’t do too much today but chilled out on the beach. Hit a nearby hut for a few cocktails that night with the Irish couple we met on the Phi Phi tour. Good relaxing day, all set for travelling to Koh Phangan tomorrow.
