Koh Phangan to party in the jungle!

THAILAND | Tuesday, 21 December 2010 | Views [941]

We travelled by boat, bus and boat again to get from Phi Phi to Koh Phangan today.  Learned how to sing the Rattlin Bog on the bus trip.  Fun times!  On arrival at our resort on Ban Tai Beach we got our room bumped up from standard to superior, nice!  We headed to the resorts restaurant quick fire after we arrived for some grub.  We tasted barbequed king prawns and white snapper fish for the first time.  The king prawns were actually king and not like the little king prawns you get at home.  They were the size of a hand.  White snapper is surprisingly really yum even though it had a big head looking at us on the plate while we were chomping away.

ATV as easy as ABC:  Today we hired an ATV (quad bike) to see a bit of Koh Phangan.  It was mad, all we had to do to rent the quad was sign a piece of paper basically saying we would pay for any damage and that was it, no need for driving license or anything.  Handy out!  It was later in the afternoon again we got going so we headed down south to the nearest town Haad Rin to check out where the full moon parties are held each month.  Full moon, half-moon, total eclipse:  That night we caught a taxi (pickup truck) out to the jungle with a crowd from the resort and hit the half-moon party.  It was crazy.  Everyone gets painted up with fluorescent colours on their arms, legs, face and anywhere they want!  It’s really cool then when you’re in under all the fluorescent lights seeing everyone lit up dancing to the music watching fire throwing up on stage drinking buckets galore!   Great night out!!

Koh Phangan DIY Tour:  Hopped on the quad this morning and headed up north on Koh Phangan Island in the direction of Haad Mae Haad beach, very nice and worth the visit.  Stopped off in one of the small towns on the way back down for some grub.  The views out across the ocean from the hill tops were breath-taking.  We relaxed for the evening then with a snooze on the beach while the sun was setting across the ocean beyond Ban Tai beach.
