The Best Places to Camp Around the US

UNITED STATES OUTLYING ISLANDS | Monday, 24 September 2018 | Views [106]

If you’re looking for a definitively American thing to do on your trip to the US, then look no further than camping. With its wide prairie ranges and open spaces, its amazing animals, and its diverse weather conditions, many parts of this country are set up perfectly for people that want to get off the grid for a while and get closer to nature.

If an American camping experience sounds right up your street, then go ahead and do it! When you do, just make sure to pick a campsite that’ll provide you with everything that you want to get out of your trip. Some of the best picks can be found below.

Big Sur, California

There’s more to California than LA and the stars of Hollywood, you know. As you head further north in The Golden State, you will find the ultimate camping destination, that being Big Sur. When you visit here, you’ll find a number of campsites dotted around the (incredibly large) area, each of which will offer you the chance to pitch up comfortably for the night as well the chance to have a safely contained campfire. From wherever you do decide to pitch up in the Big Sur area, you’ll always be a short drive away from spectacular hilltop views of the North Pacific Ocean.

Staying in California, an honorable mention goes to Yosemite National Park. Here, you’ll find untamed wilderness, amazing rock formations, and safe pools to swim, relax, and have fun in. The one con is that, if problems caused by the weather arise in the surrounding area, Yosemite can be a difficult place to get to.

Zion National Park, Utah

If you’re considering camping St George Utah, then Zion National Park is the place for you. As stated by the St. George Area Tourism Office, this is an area of the US that you should pitch up a tent in if you want to unplug yourself from the pressures of everyday life and really get closer to nature. Here, you’ll be able to gaze up at untouched sandstone cliffs, and you’ll be able to experience a local wilderness, which includes mammals such as the mule deer and the bighorn sheep, the likes of which you have never come across before.

Glacier Bay, Alaska

If you’re a real adventurer, then the Glacier Bay National Park should be high on your camping priority list. Found right up in the realm of Alaska, this is a wild, untamed (okay, ‘slightly untamed’) area that will allow you to hike up a glacier and enjoy water rafting when you decide to camp here. Truly, if you’re into true survival experiences and you aren’t scared of inherent dangers, then Glacier Bay is the place for you.

Whether you visit the US from afar or whether you already live in the country, you should consider going on a classic American camping trip. The experiences you’ll have and the memories you’ll make from doing so will change your life for the better, forever!
