Old Montreal

Old Montreal

French Canada is like a different country altogether. The atmosphere is different, more european, and everyone speaks to you in french first before swopping to english when you either give them a blank look or awkwardly answer in foreigner accented french. Oh and actually, they don't speak french here, they speak quebecois, french with a local twist :)

Montreal is an amazing city for culture and the arts. I arrived on a weekend and there were market stalls in Old Montreal, Cirque du Soleil at Jacques Cartier Quay in Vieux-Port and a cultural market next to the Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History, Pointe-a-Calliere. Sunday was also Free Museum Day which only happens once a year. Everyone and their grandfathers were out taking advantage of no entrance fees at all the museums. The queues were terribly long.
