Ok..confession time…..I was selecting music for Bible Study last Thursday and after quickly picking two quite deep songs I received an email saying “Do you have a third?” The thought stirred within me to send a snappy retort or “No!” rather than using any of my precious time to find yet another song. I mean what was my group leader thinking requiring more of me. My heart wasn’t in it. I honestly knew that I had selected two songs without deep consideration and now having to find a third, that would roll with the other two, would require effort.
So I did what any halfhearted busy person would do…..I googled “reflective worship songs” and jumped from one track to another. Nothing was clicking – my frustration was growing from a heart that didn’t feel drawn to worship.
At last a thought spoke to me to click on something about Chris Tomlin. This song above was the first that I selected and wow it was humbling words to my stony heart. As the words rolled out with the passion behind each one my spirit began to soar and the desire behind these lyrics became the echo of my heart.
I think God speaks to me a lot in music…..and I love it when He does. I hope this song also touches you and challenges your deep desire and reliance on our Lord and Saviour.
“Cause without You I fall apart
You’re the one that guides my heart”
