New Year, New house

CAMBODIA | Saturday, 1 January 2011 | Views [171] | Comments [2]

After celebrating the new year with friends and getting very little sleep I moved into my new place. It is just behind Olympic Market and walking distance from church. Moving my stuff was pretty easy, just had to hire a tuk tuk and  – no moving truck required. :)

I really was wanting to house share but after talking to a few expats – and hearing that many have had bad experiences and have now decided to live alone – and then finally finding this place I decided that it was the best idea to take it. The search for a good-fully furnished-in my price range, place to live has not been easy but at last God has provided. I have to be honest and say I was losing patience and getting worried – but of course God comes through, especially when you hand it all to Him (which I finally did the day before finding this place).

After moving the stuff I brought over from Australia it was time to do some shopping and get the bits and pieces I needed. That was interesting, exploring markets and shops with local friends.

Below are some photos of the inside of my place. It’s one room with a kitchen, bathroom and a small area outside to hang washing. It has everything I would need and more – AC and even a hot water service on the shower (not that I’ll be using that). On the roof is a washing machine I can use (it’s a shared with the other three one room apartments in this block).

I think what is really special about this apartment is this tile in the kitchen – my little Dutch windmill. God is good.

God is good! It's starting to look like such a comfortable home already!
