My map is my security blanket

Where would I be without my map to the city…..probably very lost. Since the first day of getting my map it has been my helper to navigate the crazy streets of Phnom Penh. All the streets here are numbered but the numbers are in not particular order. At times to think you might see a mathematically counting pattern eg parallel streets are numbered 318, 328, 338, 348…..ok I think I can guess the next one will be……356!! What??

I deduce it is just a different way of doing things and you need to learn landmarks and blocks (areas) to help guide you around, because even if you go on a moto taxi, tuk tuk or whatever you are expected to give directions. So my map is my security blanket. I don’t leave home without it otherwise I may never get anywhere.

This reminds me that the Bible is our map to life. It tells us where we have come from and guides us to where we are going. We would be totally lost without the word of God as our consent companion. Maybe I need to become as reliant on the Bible as I am to my map of Phnom Penh….a humbling thought.

Malaysian suburbs are kinda like that - it's the chronological order of when the area was developed. =) You'll get used to it soon I'm sure - plenty more landmarks to look at compared to the grids in Melbourne.
