Well I aM here,my luggage is not, but hopefully I WILL get it tomorrow.  funky keyboard, please excuse the typos... AsI{m driving backfrom the airport last night grafitti covers some of the walls along the main corridor...myeye catches -muerte a bush-  it makes me smile, thinking if anyone was ever caught writing that inthe US anywhere they would be lockedup for life.

my family calls me julieta, which I like, but at some point soon, i should correct them. There are 2 daughters, Nathaly is 16...she wears a Che bracelet and so far seems reserved... the 5 year old, angie is adorable! I think we are going to be friends, she is is 1st grade.

Like I remembered and loved in guate, fresh tropical fruits are plentiful and cheap, so freshly squeezed mystery juice is always available and delicious. and as far as instant coffee, I´ve always enjoyed the nescafe-also very common.

My view from mybedroom looks out onto a traffic circle-park its very nice, but much more noise than i expected ... feels more like ny or chicago than the tranquillo ecuador i expected. pictures to come.

Franklin, the director of the school, Escuela Pinchincha is great. he picked me up from the airport and has been my trusty informant...i look forwad to starting classes on monday.

more about quito after i spend the day exploring.

That definitely makes me think of my time in Argentina. There was some great anti-Bush graffiti that I would see from the train window everyday on my to class. The best was "Bush fascista sos vos la terrorista"--> in Argentine Spanish: "Fascist Bush, YOU are the terrorist"
