Woman with a Mission: Garivalpo

The woman running our B&B, Garivalpo, is one of a kind. She's
dedicated the downstairs portion of her restored home in the hills to
students, to promote their local artistic capabilities. During our
stay here, she's actually running a special "feria" de los artisans
from the local university. She also strongly supports Mapuche
(indigenous) artwork, and we were able to speak with an elder woman
here, dressed in traditional wear, about her art and culture. They
make all types of craft from jewelry to textiles, to beautiful
paintings. We're lucky enough to be here for music night tonight and
catch the live acoustic guitar performance by a young brother sister
duo who have composed all their own songs. It was neat to see the
generosity of this business owner, and her strong commitment to
promoting young artists and their work. A great woman, an important
mission, creatively crafted.
