Still Fruit Picking.................

So, the trip has taken a downturn, as I have run very low on money and have been forced to turn to fruit picking. And it sucks. If you can ever avoid it, do, because the farmers are all @#%$&!>" ?<@%$#)!?"@s - in other words, not very nice people!! I've been working mangoes for the last 6 days straight for 9-10 1/2 hours each day, excluding breaks (and I'm due to work at least another 3 more) and the farmers have both had double standards, basically leaving you screwed between a rock and a hard place. They threaten to fire you at every opportunity, and they always shout, never try to ask people to do something different, but just shout at you thinking that it will get results. It doesn't. We jsut drop their mangoes on purpose, ha! The 5 o'clock starts are killing me though, I'm in bed at 9 every night (or try to be) and the hours are just incredibly long, in 37/38 degree heat for most of the day. I've never done anything like it, and it is so hard! I'm just gritting my teeth and thinking of the money to get me through it.

I'm hoping to be here for no longer than 3-4 weeks total, so I've only got another 2/3 weeks left. Christmas will be pretty bad this year, the lodge is miles out, but by New Year I should be at Magnetic Island where they have a full moon party on I think, so that will be fun! A lot more fun than christmas will be, but there we go.

That's pretty much it for now, nothing has really changed and nothing really will for a couple of weeks, but I will keep you posted every week or so. Hope the snow isn't too troublesome for you all, I've seen pictures of Scotland and they have 1ft on the ground. Don't know if it's as bad as that down south though. Leave me comments to let me know how you all are, bye! xxx

We think and speak about you often, expecting you to have a great time - sorry to hear that you've reached one of the black spots but then these do occur every so often. Better times to come. Congratulations on the school prize - look forward to seeing it framed. Look after yourself, see you next year when I'll be able to play football with you! Well, maybe a little! Ina sends her best regards, she's been enquiring about your progress. Take good care of yourself, lots of love, Nanny and Margaret
