My Dumb Idea

     I have an enourmous responsibility. Since I have all freshman students the majority do not have English names. So they have requested that I give them all English names. The ones who actually have English names have some really bad ones. These first two are for Casey, one guy told me he loved Chemistry so he gave himself the name HCL, for the elements Hydrogen and Chloride. Literally I was trying my best to not fall ont the ground laughing after I found outhis reasoning for naming himself this. Another fine fellowhas chosen the name Gandalf, not sure yet whether it is Gandalf the White. So now I have made it my personal goal to get 8 more students to take names from the Fellowship. I'm thinking Glimli son of Gloin will be the hardest sell. I have a few kids named after Kobe Bryant, I have one named First Class, guess he likes to fly, and my personal favorite the Bruce Lee fan named appropraitely Bruce Fan. So this is my request to all of you, if you have a name you want me to use or if you want me to name one after you as a shout out you need to let me know. By the way Casey I will be changing HCL's name to Casey, I have already decided that so no take backs.

    Probably the most surreal part of my last two days was when I entered the class room and was greated by thunderous applause. I mean seriously they gave me a standing ovation. Most of these guys have never even seen a foreigner before, I know this because they all made a point of telling me this repeatedly. So I can feel even more pressure knowing that I am going to be their first, it's a lot of pressure. On Wednesday I had two Oral classes one at 8 and then another at 10:30. By the end of the first class my huge was so huge I couldn't get it out of the door. Every student said something to the affect of, " OMG you are awesome, we feel so lucky to have you teaching us, we want to be your friend, you are my first foreigner." What was funny about the friend part was they all would ask, "I hope we can be friends?" At first I didn't realize this was an actual question until the student paused and just stared at me. I just sat there being a good listner till I realized she wanted and answer right then. So I am now friends with every person I have talked to in the last two days. At the end of my second class I had to stay after for like 10 minutes so everybody could get pictures with me. I have also been invited to everyone's hometown and to their own homes where their parents would love to meet me and make me food. I gave them my email and my phone number with the stipulation that they could only call and text me between 10 and 10. I already got a text at like 10:30 the first day. I am going to keep this one short but i should have some more pictures and a video for the next one be sure to read below. So I am going to cut and paste an email and reprint a text verbatim to give you an example of what I have been told.

Text: Hello, my lovely teacher. Do You remember the girl that was very excited whenshemet you and your friends walking in the street ?I am your new student.my name is Chen Hongling .At that time I was looking for a part-time job to make university lifewonderful .It was the second time that I had met youtoday.And all my English lessons are tought by you.Tomorrow we will be meet again. You are lovely and handsome,Ilike you very much, I am interested in your class . As a Chinese student.I can gain great marks in exams now and then ,but when it comes to speaking I am at a loss .Ireally want to improve it.I hope that you coulde be not only my teacher but also my friend .At last,I wish you sleep a sound sleep! I did not alter any spelling or the format of that text it must have taken her like two days to type that. it took me 5 minutes using a computer. The next one was written to me in giant neon green text I did not change that either.
