Mexico Continued - Chichen Itza

We take our first 2nd class bus to Chichen Itza ruins, the bus certainly isn´t as nice as the first class, but more interesting as locals can flag it down at any point, so it stops all the time and it stops for street sellers, who flag down the bus and then sell there wares while the bus continues on its journey and sometimes the sellers get off miles and miles from where they get on, they then jump on the next bus going the opposite direction.

We have to get a taxi to the only hostel in Chichen Itza town, the town itself is just like Palengue, small and not very nice, but Chicken Itza is much smaller and even less nice.  The hostel turns out to be a concrete room above a shop.  I disliked it so much I wanted to leave and even considered skipping the ruins even though we had travelled this far to see them.

The next day we go to the ruins, there is a fancy enterance all marble and very touristy.  This is by far the most touristy place we have been, there are hundreds if not thousands of tourists here.  The weather is so hot today we are struggling right from the start.  Not the weather to walking around ruins.  There are many seller selling traditional clothes, stone wear, wooden masks that we watch being made, this adds to the touristy feel as you are constantly bombarded.  All in all Chichen Itza is no where near as nice as Palenque.
