Japanese contrasts - ancient and modern

Ladies who like to shop!

Japan seems full of contrasts between the old and the new:

Neon-lit skyscrapers next to ancient shrines;
Pachinko (pinball) machines by old tea houses;
Ladies wearing the latest fashions from Paris in the same street as ladies wearing elegant kimonos in full traditional dress.

One of the funniest contrasts between the old and the new are the toilets. You open the door to find either a quite primitive, but very clean, squatting toilet or, alternatively, a seated toilet complete with a control for all the gadgets to heat the seat, shower and spray your bum, play music or create flushing noises.

Japan is such an interesting, diverse and different place! We love it! >^<
