The Grand Canadian/
American Adventure
Day Four Five The Road
trip
Ok folks. Today I’m going to spare you a long winded
diatribe as the day was taken up with driving from Bangor up to Saint John in
New Brunswick. Yes we are back in Canada. The journey was about 300km and
instead of taking the direct route we took the scenic route along the coast
through some fantastic scenery and great coastal towns we would not have got to
see going the Interstate. Maine is one of those US states I have wanted to
visit for as long as I can remember and it has not disappointed it is
beautiful, thick lush forests and magnificent coastal vistas in between small
coastal hamlets.
Anyway tonight we are ensconced in the residences of the
University of New Brunswick, Saint John Campus and nice accommodation it is
too. Looking out the window of the room, I can’t see a thing as one of the
Atlantic Coast pea souper’s has rolled in and blanketed everything in a thick
fog. It looks like something out of those old movies of Victorian London, very
sinister.
Tomorrow we travel up the
coast to Fundy National Park, where we hope to witness the largest tides in the
world: 13 metres. From there we head to Anne of Green Gables country on Prince
Edward Island. So hopefully lots more photos. The journey’s only supposed to
take about 3 ½ hours but I’m sure we can spin it out to all day. Today’s batch
of photos are brought to you by Michelle, who was clicking away as we drove
along, I think the photos capture the drive and the scenery quite
spectacularly.
