- Breakfast at 7:30 am, and took a local bus 7E to San Lorenzo for trekking/hiking. Per the local's recommendation, San Lorenzo is a nice little town with great hiking trails. Get off at the last stop, cross the bridge, and there should be the start of the hiking trail to the left.
- Bus fare is 140 Argentinean pesos. There is a machine at the bus that either you pay the exact fare, or you pay by a prepaid swipe card. Never thought Argentina is so advanced. In perspective, USA so far behind in terms of the transportation system payment - BART/buses has rolled out the universal TransLink fare card for ages and it looks like it is still a difficult undertaking. Throughout the trip, it is amazing how you can go from a bus which you negotiate fare (Peru) to one that accepts prepaid swipe card (Argentina).
- The trail is a private natural reserve Quebrada de San Lorenzo. In it a 1.9 km trail with 11 stopping points for different types of vegetation. It was a relatively cool morning but nice for walking. Not a difficult trek at all (technically it was not a hike), and I made two rounds before heading back to Salta. In lieu of waiting at the bus terminal, I walked to the bus stop at 'town entrance' to get a feel of the city.
- Another mishap of Lonely Planet. Walked to this vegeterian restaurant Madre Tierra (highly recommended by Lonely Planet) which was no longer there. Then I waited on empty stomach (for an hour) till 8 pm for this local restaurant, highly recommended for its parrillada and pasta dishes, to open. Turned out they didn't have parrillada for the day and they stopped serving pasta for a while. Great!! Ended up at another restaurant for pasta. It tasted so good, especially since I was so hungry.
- Bummer that I had to miss the BBQ night at our hostel. It starts at 9 pm, and I had to be at the bus station at 9:30 pm for my 10 pm bus. Gonna to be a looooong ride - 19 hours from Salta to Mendonza.
