- Woke up at 8:30 am for breakfast (breakfast included in hostel)- each person was allocated a basket of two pieces of bread, jam, butter, and dulce de leche. Dulce de leche is something that looks like caramel but made of milk. Camilla told me Argentines use them for everything and you can buy them by kilos at supermarket.
- Also met Anna, another Czech gal who was travelling with Camilla. Anna went to the Salt Lake prior (at Bolivia, which is much bigger and supposingly more impressive), so she passed on today´s trip.
- Took a local bus to Punamarca. Purmamarca is one of the many small villages along the Quebrada de Humahuaca, and is famous for its location below the beautiful Cerro de los Siete Colores (Seven Coloured Mountain). Wish I could hike Cerro Verde, the hill opposite the town for better view of the mountains, but needed to catch a collectivo to take us to Salinas Grandes, which is another hour away. Shared the taxi ride (and rest of the trip) with an Argentinean couple.
- The winding Lipán
Slope spiraled up to
4,140 m before it slowly came down and we were dazzled by the white sea of salt flat. True to its name, there are all sorts of huts (for tourisum purposse), sculptures and artesans at Salinas Grandes made of salt. I am sure the Uyuni Salt Flat at Bolivia is 100x times more impressive.
- Went back to Jujuy at around 8 pm. Anna and Camilla are leaving for Salta tomorrow and I am staying for a couple days. Camilla is heading back to Czech on Fri, and Anna will stay at Bueno Aires for her exchange program (till Jan). Anna is really fun - hopefully will meet up at Bueno Aires.
