So after walking around and sampling food stalls I decided to head back to my guesthouse and meet some people with the aim of having a few ales in Khao San Road. Met this legend of a guy called Mike, a disgraced ex-solicitor from Scotland in his 50's. Very funny guy and good fun to be around. We head out to Khao San Road after a couple of beers. We're sat in a bar and decide to order a 'Tiger-Tower'. I decide to recruit some help to drink this so we call over a backpacker who's sat on his own, a young guy called Mark. After a bit I decide we need an entourage and bring over a couple of girls - young backpackers, sisters, from Barrow in Furness, of all places. Nice girls. Mike decided later on that he didn't want to stay out all night and went home, recommending that we can't leave Bangkok without seeing one of these famous 'ping-pong shows'. We decide he's right so we all get a tuk-tuk to one of these 'shows'.
So after a tuk-tuk RACE through Bangkok (we had two tuk tuks for the 4 of us, the drivers were friends and raced each other), we arrive at the seediest establishment I've ever been in. None of us rated the show - there was plenty on display, yet was the most unerotic thing I've ever seen, for a few reasons - one is that the atmosphere was a bit dark and seedy and two, the show was so clinical and the performers clearly not enjoying themselves. So we all left just pleased that we had ticked that one off the list and had another tuk tuk race back to Khao San Road and went to a nightclub. It was a very late night and today I woke up at 4pm!
EDIT 13.06.2013: HA HA! No WAY should I have held back on this story! The part that I left out was being woken up by an angry Thai man hitting me around the head, while I was passed-out on the pavement of Koh San Road! Oh yes! I remember staggering around in a nightclub and the next thing I know I'm dully aware of something hitting me around the head. I open my eyes and look up and see an irate Thai man's face. I was actually sat on the curb slumped down with my head between my legs, completely passed-out. No idea how long for. Amazingly, nothing was stolen!
I was still absolutely wasted but managed to find my way back to my guesthouse, and THEN I woke up at 4pm!
I am always quite proud to regale this tale of my first night in Bangkok because you only get one first night in Bangkok! And everyone's first night in Bangkok should be like this! In fact, I'm almost a little disappointed that I didn't have everything stolen and spent the next week or so stressed out of my mind getting new credit and debit cards etc etc. It would have been an even better story!

Today I bumped into Mike again and we then both randomly met a couple of women, one of whom was Bryan Robson's wife! I'm sat in the guesthouse again now with Mike and I've no idea what awaits me next. One thing I do know though is that I'm having a good time but I'll have to leave this town soon before it destroys me!!!
