This lioness in the Serengeti reminded me of a domestic cat – she sat very quietly in the fork of this tree and gazed out over the grassland. Was she looking for prey, trying to catch a cool breeze, or just relaxing?

All on his own, this little calf in the Serengeti might not stand much of a chance for survival. Luckily, his herd were just behind him, so he felt quite brave and lived up to the Cape Buffalo’s fierce reputation – staring me out and stomping his feet before running back to mum.

Each one with its own unique ‘fingerprint’ of stripes – the humble zebra survives the wilds of the Serengeti by strength in numbers. These two lazily walked by as part of a large herd – I couldn’t resist the photo, they may have safety in numbers, but if separated, they become quite vulnerable.
