    There are [5] photos and [1] story about Poland

    No escape. Guard towers at Birkenau were located around the site to ensure no prisoners could escape. Only five escapees are documented during Birkenau’s operation. by: afn Views[557] The view from inside a cremation chamber; it was small and suffocating. I found the only way to not break down with emotion was to look out this tiny window. by: afn Views[917] Auschwitz II – Birkenau; known as the ‘Final Solution of the Jewish Question in Europe’. These wooden barns were used to house prisoners before being taken to their fate. They were overcrowded and provided little shelter from the elements. by: afn Views[809] One of the many ‘blocks’ at the Auschwitz I site – some were used as accommodation buildings, others to undertake experiments on prisoners. by: afn Views[556] ‘Labor Makes you Free’. Two women pass through the entrance to Auschwitz I – a concentration camp from World War II located in Poland. The site has since been converted into a museum which tells the story of the horrors faced by those taken there. by: afn Views[962]
