One of the many ‘blocks’ at the Auschwitz I site – some were used as accommodation buildings, others to undertake experiments on prisoners.

‘Labor Makes you Free’. Two women pass through the entrance to Auschwitz I – a concentration camp from World War II located in Poland. The site has since been converted into a museum which tells the story of the horrors faced by those taken there.

Auschwitz II – Birkenau; known as the ‘Final Solution of the Jewish Question in Europe’. These wooden barns were used to house prisoners before being taken to their fate. They were overcrowded and provided little shelter from the elements.
