Advice Before a bomb blast

  1. Before visiting a country where there is a risk of terrorism you should first obtain as much information on that country as possible
  2. Stay away from those areas that may have been the target of terrorism in the past.
  3. Be aware of the conduct of people near to you
  4. Report suspicious packages to the police
  5. Identify the main tourist areas an stay away from those parts which appear less secure · Make yourself aware of your surroundings.
  6. Stay away from glass buildings.
  7. Know the telephone numbers of local police, hospitals and the British Embassy.
  8. Stay away from large gatherings or demonstrations.
  9. If you are with friends identify a rendezvous point to meet should there be an explosion.
  10. Prepare a plan to evacuate should there be a bomb blast.
  11. Know the telephone numbers of local transport and hire car companies.

In the event of a bomb blast

  1. Leave the area as soon as possible
  2. Do not run you may be suspected as the bomber. If you are in a crowd stay at the fringes.
  3. Stay clear of glass shop fronts.
  4. If you are injured attend to yourself before others.
  5. Obey all instructions and orders that are given by local police.
  6. Make your way to a pre planned secure area.
  7. If you return to your hotel stay away from the windows.
  8. Listen to television and radio reports.
  9. Contact family or friends and let them know your situation.
  10. Write down what you saw before and after the blast it may help the authorities in their investigation.
