Day 20 – 20th April 2016 Wednesday – AnBang & More Stuffing around

VIETNAM | Thursday, 21 April 2016 | Views [243]

Kevin was up early and rode to Montgomery Golf Course, 27km round trip. A nice relaxing ride. After breakfast we headed to AnBang for some relaxation after a stressful day yesterday. Was lovely for a few hours. Sussie came and joined us and we chatted some more. Kevin told her that if he didn't work in the summer on cricket pitches that he would live in Vietnam permanently. I'm certainly not looking at that as a future option. We had an early lunch at AnBang as I had to pick up my translated licence from Mr Dung at 12.40. We stopped at the bike shop and I bought a basket for the Giant and also we got headlights for each bike to ride at night. We then stopped at the electrical store and Kevin bought a blender VND 290k so he can make fruit shakes. When we got back Kevin cleaned the chains on both bikes as they pick up heaps of sand from the roads and the beach. While he was doing this I put the headlights together and tried my basket. Unfortunately it wouldn't fit on the bikes post. The hole was not big enough. Bugga. Bugga. We got a phone call from Vang to say we needed to go to the Government Office to sign more papers for our lease. So on the scooter we get and off we go. When we got back mum and dad rang and I spoke briefly with them. Next thing Vang turns up saying that Thu needed Kevin's passport again as she had photocopied the wrong visa. Thu came also and took the documents away again. Dung then shows up while Vang is here to look at the wifi. Company says it is working and we all agree but it does not cover the room upstairs. Thankfully Dung agrees and now will arrange for someone to come on Sunday to install another modem upstairs. We have been waiting 3 days now. I must remember we are in Vietnam and things don't always happen when people say they will. So now I decide to take the basket back to the bike shop to get a bigger fitting for the bike post. Vang has written it in VN for me as they don't speak English. Well that was a fizzer. No can do so I get a refund. I really wanted a basket for when I ride with Monika and Sussie tomorrow as I won't have anywhere to carry my water. Finally at 5pm I get to sit down and reflect on another f…g day of running around organising things about the house. We would have been better staying in a Homestay with none of this hassle. It is the lunar moon night tonight and as we don't want to head to the old town we decide to go back to Hoa Hien for dinner. Kevin had Cau Loa and I had the Pancake. Was again a very good meal.
