Up and out walking at 5.45am on my normal Cam Thanh route. The North westerly wind was very warm and the humidity is rising again. Kevin was still asleep when I got back and he is now complaining that his right hip is hurting. After breakfast I had a lesson with Dram and Kevin went walking to try and free his hip. We were due at Betel at 11.30am for Mr Hat Ancestor Day for his father. We arrived and there were 150 guests already eating. We sat at one of the two tables prepared for the hotel guests. We sat with John who was from Sorrento in Victoria. He and his wife are chefs and they work in Loas teaching local chefs and Restaurants how to prepare and cook certain dishes several times a year. Vang sat with us while Dong looked after the other table. Another family of 4 didn't turn up so there was plenty of food. Kevin liked the Indian beef which was so tender it melted in your mouth. He also liked the pork sandwich loaf. After several beers and chatting we headed back to the Homestay. It was rest time as the workers were having a sleep. . Kevin headed to the beach while I took the opportunity for a snooze after the beers we had. Unfortunately 20 minutes later the noise started up again, the workers were back at it. I went to the beach and met Kevin. We stayed until late afternoon and then headed back. Soon after Dung came to our door and asked us to come have a beer with the workers. Turns out there is 7 members in the crew and they don't speak any English. Cuc then starts bringing out the food which we had to eat so as not to offend anyone. The workers kept jabbering on and Talking about us to each other. After about an hour we were able to get away. Later we walked to the Kem for an icecream. Today has been a real food day.
