Day 55 – 24th June 2015 Wednesday – HoiAn

AUSTRALIA | Thursday, 25 June 2015 | Views [334]

Up by 6am to get ready for our bike ride with Monika and Jean-Ann. We discovered my bike had flat tyres and Kevin had tried to pump them up but the pump is broken. A quick cry for help and Dung came home from coffee to borrow the neighbours pump and we were away. We met the girls at the 5 star Red Seat. On the waiting ferry and across to Cam Kem. We were just exploring unknown tracks this morning so we would often come to a dead end or a house and have to turn around. It was an enjoyable ride. When we got back we went for soup and Banh roll for breakfast at the street stall we had gone to on Monday. From here we headed back into town to Mia’s coffee shop for a coffee. Monika shouted us all a chocolate to go with it. Apparently Mia’s is the best coffee shop in HoiAn and all the westerners go there.  We rode back to the Homestay along the river and discovered our total trip was 21km again today. My battery on my phone has been depleting quickly in comparison to Kevin's so I went around to Betel and asked Hai where to get a new battery. He again sent me to the store near Greenfields Hotel where I had got the replacement speaker. This time a lady actually spoke a little English and she advises the cost is VND $450k or A$27. I thought this was a bit rich but certainly better than prices in Australia. It took all of 10 minutes and I was away. Kevin decided to head to the beach so he was off on his bike as I got back. I headed down to the beach after lunch for a few hours. On the way back. Stopped t Betel to download a few movies to watch. Kevin meanwhile had had problems with his gears on the bike so he stopped at the motor bike shop and they reset the gears and other stuff. Kevin paid him VND$200k and the guy was so shocked he invited him to come back and drink beer with him later tonight. We went to Vang’s for dinner and had noodle with chicken and it was nice. Duc came home after we had finished eating. Kevin again stopped at the Kem for ice cream and tonight they served the scoops on top of each other and they had added a drink whizzy thingy for decoration. The girls all thought it was funny. Kevin was delighted.
