Day 26 – 26th May 2015 Tuesday – HoiAn

Walked down the low road into town and the market. Bought 1kg of lychees. Walked back along the River. Spoke with Meahgan at breakfast. She is very happy with her tailored suit for work. She explained that it is navy in colour and has a pink lining. Just imagine, a little petite blonde  bombshell in a business suit ripping it off to show the pink lining. She is leaving this morning and we said our goodbyes. Kevin rang his sister Heather for her birthday and chatted with her for a while. Happy Birthday Heather. Kevin then went off to the local tailor to get another 2 shirts made from the material I bought in Danang while I rode to the beach. All the spots were taken and so I settled under cover with a fan. I got talking with a guy I have seen here many times before. He is from USA and his name is Jim. He lives here for most of the year and is a photographer and also a health care professional. He has just riden on his motorbike solo through Vietnam and Laos taking photos.  A total of 7,000 km. Later in the morning he showed us a number of the photos and they were very good. He likes using people and children in his shots. I also chatted with another young guy I have seen at An Bang a number of times. His name is Nate and he has lived in Vietnam for 4 years. He is a teacher and looking at starting a school in HoiAn. His wife is still in Hanoi and will be moving over the next few weeks as school finishes this week. Kevin made a new record today, 15 min 52 sec. I bet he was buggered when he got here. Headed back to Homestay and had a lazy afternoon reading. Kevin went for a brief walk around the local streets.  I made a couple of calls to Mum and Dad and to Sue Hutchinson to have a chat. We went to our favourite Restaurant again, Pho Xau where we ordered My Quang, Cao Lau (smoky pork, crisp greens, crunchy croutons, bean sprouts and noodles). The Cao Lau had a soy taste to it and was a good contrast to the My Quang. We also had a shared serving of spring rolls. We washed it all down with glasses of Saigon Green Beer with ice. We wondered the streets back to the scooter and bought a embroiled money pouch each that you wear over your shoulder.
