Went walking down to the local market and then left into Cam Thanh Village area and back past Red Bridge Cooking School / Restaurant. I thought I was going to get lost at one stage but managed to find my way. There were not a lot of Westerners on the lanes that I took. Kevin again had a lay in as he is getting fatigued by the heat and is sleeping like a log in the cool air conditioning. After breakfast it was off to the beach. Kevin says he had a head wind and took 17 min 20 sec to get to the beach. It is a very hot still day and we needed many walks down and into the water to cool off. I met Claire and her 4 yo son Sam in the water and they are English or Scottish and live in Hong Kong. Chatted with them a while, finding out about life in Hong Kong. Stayed at the beach until 1pm and after lunch I went to the tailor to pick up my first sun dress and to leave material bought yesterday for a further 2 to be made. Huynh came with me to interpret. Turns out that 1.2m is not quiet enough for a sun dress. Well this is the amount of material I was told by the tailor yesterday that would be enough. Not happy Jan! Thankfully I had bought 1.5m in one of the patterns. I told her to do her best. She is also going to do some repairs on an old Bali sun dress. The finished dress is a lovely pink and blue pattern that I love. She had enough material left to make me a pair of shorts. Kevin says they look like pyjama bottoms. I don't agree. Kevin stayed listening to the footy reports on the radio with air phones to cut out the noise of the upstairs building works that Mr Dung is doing. Bruce Wallace has tried to call and emailed to arranged flights for Moama Pairs. I rang Sandy Wallace back and chatted with her for a while and caught up the bowls gossip. The other couple at the Home stay were in a panic as they had had their phone stolen while arguing over petrol at the petrol station on the way to An Bang. They had been to the police station and we're now looking to go to Danang to get a new phone. I told them they could get one in HoiAn and showed them on the map. I left shortly after to go to Vang’s to help prepare dinner. Tonight we are making pork spring rolls and Banh Xeo a savoury pancake made with rice batter and filled with pork, spring onion, shrimp and other goodies. Vang was impressed that I was able to roll the spring rolls like an expert. We made about 70 spring rolls but only cooked half for dinner. Vang wanted us to take the rest back to the Homestay and cook there. We also only used a portion of the rice batter for the Banh Xeo. While Vang and I were cooking inside Duc and Tri were shelling prawns and preparing the salad leaves for the savoury pancake. Kevin arrived on the push bike and was put to work to peel the garlic to make the dipping sauce. Dinner is ready. We start in on the savoury pancake, grap a piece of rice paper, pancake and salad and wrap it all up and dip. The Larue Beer was cold and the meal fantastic. Kevin says it is the best he has ever had in Vietnam. We were disappointed we didn't have a camera to take a photo. We finished off the meal with big Lychee fruit that were yummy. Duc had to head off to work as he had to pick up a customer at the Danang airport. Duc cousin was off on a date at the coffee shop and we headed home.
