Day 126 - 28th August 2014 Exploring the Cape

Day 126 28th August 2014 Thursday. Overcast day today. Lunch packed and on the road at 9.15 to explore the top end region. Driving out of Busselton which is spread out along the coast toward Dunsborough we passed many caravan parks and various accommodation options. We even passed an area where each religious denomination had a retreat on the beach. There were about 7 in a row on prime land. We drove through Dunsborough and onto Cape Naturalise Road toward Cape Naturalise Lighthouse right on the point. We did a 2km walk around the lighthouse through the native vegetation with spectacular views of Geographe Bay and the Cape coastline. It was an interesting walk. The sea was rough and ferocious. Dad was exhausted after the walk. We had a cuppa and then headed back down the cape to Eagle Bay which is a rich man’s place as the homes are massive. We continued on back to Dunsborough and drove down the main street area to the beach. Walked along a small way and then took the back roads to find Simmo’s Ice Creamery for an ice cream cone. Was yummy. From here to Yalingup Woodfire Bread which is the place that makes the bread we had at Aarons the other night. Bought a fruit loaf. Headed toward Yallingup and stopped first at Ngilgi Cave and I did a semi-guided tour. The formations were fantastic and as I haven’t been in a cave for 30 years I found it very interesting. Mum and dad stayed back and had lunch while I did the tour. We then headed to Yallingup and were disappointed as it is a town that is not accessible easily. We headed further south down the coast road and stopped at Canal Rocks which was a natural phenomenon where the water runs through various canal’s in the rocks and crates amazing clash with water coming from different directions. From here we went to Gabriel Chocolate and were disappointed. We zig zagged to Wulura Farms where I tried their olive oil and then bought a 6 pack of wine. Went past Wonky Windmill Farm and the Wood Maze place before heading back. We got back at 3.30. Decided to stay another night as I will do the Cellar d’Or  wine tour tomorrow. Got chatting with a couple from Adelaide who have a Regent van from Camerons and a Jeep.
