Day 22 – 15th May 2014 Thursday We left Alice Springs at 7.45am and headed towards Devils Marbles. Stopped for morning tea and fuel at Ti Tree which was $215.9. Arrived at Karlu Karlu Conservation Park (Devils Marbles) about 2.00pm and set up on the left hand side of the camp as you enter as most of the right hand side was filled. The left hand side had a bigger slope and therefore had to use levellers (my unused toys) on the 4WD. Worked well as Dad only used pieces of wood blocks. Was very hot and sticky so just tried to cool the van down and ourselves for the first hour. One gas bottle empty so will need to fill in Katherine or Mataranka. Checked out the amenities which were a drop toilet and also paid the camping fee $3.30 pp. Wow. Wondered over later in the avo to check out the Marbles. These amazing structures just appear to be randomly scattered around and the large rock formations are next to each other and on top of each other creating quite tall structures. Kevin climbed to the top of a small rock and then had trouble getting down. No sympathy here!! We headed back and had a quiet drink or two. We got the weber out and cooked some rissoles and potato while mum did steamed veggies. Was an impressive feast. Afterwards we sat around and played sevens card game. Early night.
