We did a little maintenance this morning - washing and cleaning - before heading off to meet my cousins Robyn and Lyn for lunch at the Sunshine Plaza shopping centre at Maroochydore, where a river flows through the shopping centre ( competition for Venice?) If the economic situation is causing a downturn in retail sales I want to know what all those people were doing there and why it was almost impossible to get a park - surely they weren't all window shopping!! We then drove along the Maroochydore, and we think Maloolaba, beach front and then to Caloundra. It was a public holiday in Brisbane for their show and so there were plenty of people on the beaches even though it was only in the low 20s. Although there were lots of high rise the beaches still had sand hills and in some areas mangroves so it does not feel like the Gold Coast. Tomorrow morning we head for Birkdale in Brisbane, not far from Wellington Point where Lyn lives.
