Day 49
AUSTRALIA | Thursday, 4 August 2011 | Views [301]
Not a great deal to report today. As we set off from Cairns the traffic was heavy but the scenery was wonderful. Beautiful, varied coloured street plants in Cairns, rainforest covered mountains, green fields of sugar cane and Queenslander houses with remnant rainforest around them. Then it started to rain for the first time on the trip and at times the rain was very heavy making for difficult driving conditions. As we got closer to Tully the roadworks started and continued much of the way and we could also see the effects of the cyclone Yasi on the trees of the area. Next the landscape started to dry out as we approached Townsville and we were back to savannah woodland. As I did not make a booking for a Townsville caravan park we are in the worst park in town but fortunately we have everything we need in our van so its not a problem.
