An early start was needed today as we had a 406km drive from
Alice Springs to Devil’s Marbles, which is a low fee camp area, and you need to
get there early to get a spot. No internet access till tomorrow (Wednesday). Not much to report except that we keep on
expecting that flat, brown land and it’s not there. Frequent ranges are seen, occasional
mesas and lots of bushes and small trees as well as grasses (although the NT
govt. is doing a good job of trying to get rid of it all with frequent burn offs
– possibly better than a wild fire but it’s a shame when everything looks so
good). The Devil’s Marbles is another interesting geological formation with a
variety of shapes and groups of boulders and the colours changing with the time
of day and weather conditions. The camping ground was quite large but was full
by about 4.00 so a number of people could not fit in. We had our first problem –
a flat battery!!!!!!!
