Baja first week

hey all,

No proofing here in baja! and limited internet connectivity and time on the internet so here´s a brief update from the field. I am sitting in a bar in loreto listening to a boxing match as <i type this update. <today is valentine´s day and to this point we are having a blast. <<<<<<<<<<<<we first arrived in los cabos and stayed in town san juan de los cabos. the town is quaint and not too touristy. we had a couple of days there so planned the sunset cruise and then a trip to snorkel at playa pulmo. the beach was truly beautiful and there were very few people. the country is an interesting mix of mexicans and ex patriots and gringos. All the folks have been very patient with my efforts to speak and many have gotten quite a few laughs out of our efforts. We saw lots of whales to this point. first on the sunset cruise where we saw a whale breaching in the water...just magnificent. The pirates around us were unphased and said this is something that happens todos los dias!

Today we took a cab to magdelina bay and took a panga to watch the whales. we saw several mother whales and their calves. I tried to download pics but i think the connection is too slow. tomorrow we head to the islands off the coast of Loreto for our kayak trip where i know there will be no connection to the internet. so here is a haiku poem about today:

Our sun rises in silence

puffs of air signal

the connections of our worlds

Once we return on saturday i will try to share more. this computer is slow and the key board is in spanich
