Day 2 - Kilimanjaro - like a fat baby girl.....

AUSTRALIA | Monday, 21 September 2015 | Views [412]

Had a morning wee (in the bushes of course) - the Diamox is starting to kick in - (Altitude meds) before everyone got up. The loos are... ummmmm hard to take first thing in the morning! And just as I was finishing.... wondered what the noise was above me.... yeah... Morning Mr Blue Monkey! It was huge! I've never moved quicker....

I have a niggling feeling that I'm starting with a cold... but I'm trying my best not to over think things - so I ignore the signs....

Go back to bed for a few minutes and Praygood taps on the tent.... 'How'd you sleep?' Nic and I both chime 'great'! Then I ask him - 'How'd you sleep Praygood?' His reply... 'Like a fat baby boy'! Bless.

We are given a wasbowl of water to wash with and some brekky, whilst avoiding the prehistoric looking Ravens hanging about like seagulls outside the mess tent.

And we are off again. We soon leave the forest behind and enter into the Moorland zone of giant heather. Some steep walking, but getting used to the incline..... still in basic cargos and t-shirt..... might have to layer up in the next day or so. We camp at 3,550m on the Shira plateau - no sign of altitude sicknes (phew) feet are holding up after a 6 hour day of walking. We make it in time for a warm late lunch and an arvo nap. Awesome. Then the mists start to come in, and I'm starting to feel the Brrrrrrrrrrr. We're  warned that tomorrow will be a long day walking. We have an early dinner and go to bed early..... again
