today we head out for a full day..I need to be at the jetty at 10am to leave, everyone fromLa Diguoise will be on the boat today. There are 2 other young german couples staying here. We had a full boat, another couple fromL'ocean hotel who I saw at dinner last night when I ventured out to Patatran on the north shore. A side note on Patatran...ok food, Elodie can not to beat...her food is so superior...anyway nice restaurant suppose to have all this ambiance and lovely setting overlooking the sea...ok ya I could hear the sea but at 7:30 it is completely dark...and this is all year round...on the equator there is not laste sunset in the summer, it is always around 6:30, so watching the beautiful sunset over the indian ocean is not an option...what a bummer... Also a guy from La Digue who has been living in Montreal for the last 18 years...how strange.
We headed to Les Souers, the big and little sister islands...We went to the big sister and were shuttled in by dingy as there is a coral reef surrounding the beach. It was 10:30 and we were shown the path to the other side of the island and Grand Anse and told to be back at 12:30 for barbeque. The path walks through a grassy parklike setting lined with huge granite boulders and huge tortoises walking in the grass, on the other side was beautiful grand anse which looked very similar in fact to grand anse on La Digue, gorgeous white sand beach with gentle but crashing waves and grantite boulder formations at either end....what a great way to spend the day!!!!
Andy came to get us at lunch and told me I was gonna wanna take a picture of our table...he was right!!!!!!!!!! magically they had transformed 2 coolers and a bunch of raw food into a beautiful meal!! There was a long table with a tablecloth and place settings each with fresh flower and a flower arrangement in the center made of sand and flowers they had found nearby...so pretty...and 3 huge salads all decorated with flowers, the grill was full with several kinds of fresh fish in different creole spices and also chicken, there was rice and bread, it was lovely...so much more than I had imagined!! After lunch and a huge fresh fruit salad we all headed back to the beach for a swim..Andy entertained by walking down the beach and into the water on his hands....He is crazy and fun...spent the day singing bob marley tunes. We all packed up and headed to Ile Cocos for some snorkling and swimming with the turtles...Today I saw a stone fish...very dangerous...and met up with a pissy turtle...who had apparently had to much swimming with the tourists and tried to snap. great day, gorgeous again and we are all exhausted...
I have to stop though and watch the sunset....I pull down a path toward the beach and find 2 dogs and an old boat being woked on...the view is great and I make friends with the dogs...so I stay and snap away.....the sunsets here are just not possible to describe...each so different and so beautiful...ok so now I must pedal home and shower and get ready for my favorite part of the day...dinner at Elodie's....
