This morning we finished off the packing and, around 11am we left to drive back to Sam's. Jean and Chris were going to do the rounds of the neighbours (to say goodbye).
We took a leisurely route home, first stopping at Barnstaple to have a wander, then South Molton and then a long drive to Glastonbury, in Somerset, a very historic town with an ancient, ruined abbey (which is very ornate considering it was built in the 9th century) and which is host to a huge music festival. We drove past signposts for Collipriest, Seven Brethren and Street - all strange names for little towns. The drive to Glastonbury is very lovely, through the Mendips and with a tantalising sight of the Tor along the way.
Eventually we started to wend our way home (again, thank goodness for Tom Tom!) and drove over bridges that crossed the rivers Lox Yeo and Blind Yeo! As there is a town called Yeovil in Somerset, the word Yeo obviously means something!
On our way home we passed Bristol but, as we didn't feel like visiting the city, we just gave it a little wave as we drove by.
We're staying at Sam's until Saturday, when we all go back to Allan and Dot's for his 60th birthday party that night.
