Bangkok Dangerous

Our Thai Airways flight to Bangkok was complete luxury compared to how we've travelled so far and we loved every minute of it. Plenty of space, complimentary drinks and tastey food and a massive selection of the latest films to choose from on the personal screen in front. So I watched Gangster squad, had a nice red curry and enjoyed few whiskey and cokes. Only down side was the flight only lasted for 3 and a half hours! We opted to stay in the backpacker area of Khoa San Road and it was exactly what we were looking for. Loads going on in terms of live music and bars to drink in, tastey street food and lots of people to socialise with. After a quick shower we were out in a bar drinking Chang! We found it hard to adjust to the humidity as we always seemed to be wiping sweat from our foreheads! We got talking to a few other backpackers and after several more Chang we found ourselves at a ping pong show. Haha errr yeah they play it in a different style in Thailand!

The next morning we went out for breaky only to return to find out that breaky was included in our place. Not to miss a free meal we just had another one! Then we took a walk to Bangkok's oldest temple, Wat Pho, famous for a massive reclining golden Buddha. Later on we booked our transport to head north up to Chiang Mai for the next evening. Then we had our 2nd big night out in Bangkok and tasted some local cuisine in the form of a grasshopper and a scorpion! They didnt taste as bad as you'd think but I don't think I'll be making them a regular meal! The next day we nursed our hangover's with some super tasety street food and took a walk around the area. It was great recognising certain bars and the place I stayed on my very first night backpacking in 2009. Also meeting up again with the Thai women who sold me my train tickets to Chiang Mai on my last trip. Although we were tempted to head south to the islands we knew Chiang Mai would be great fun and have planned to return to
the islands and the full moon party in Ko Phangan later on in june. South east asia ... we have arrived!
