My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Just when I thought I have experienced Cuba in La Havana - with all its rich culture of street salsa dancing, cuban cigars, domino players, and siestas - I came across this beautiful sunset in a little town called Cienfuegos (translated to "a hundred fires"). I believe that people and culture tells a lot about a place, but the natural environment is also crucial to set the mood and atmosphere.

I am a big fan of antique buildings - especially when it comes to windows, balconies and doors. This is one of my lucky shots, as I managed to get the right composition and exposure within 5 seconds, before the light turned green! (I was on a double decker bus, going around La Havana)

La Havana consisted of buildings which is similar to the one depicted in this photograph. Despite the richness of it's culture, Cuba still remains one of the countries with the highest poverty rate.

Unlike the dominoes, cockfighting is a violent yet a respected pastime. It runs way back to ancient history of the Cuban ancestors.

I was walking around in Trinidad one evening, and came across this proud man, gently stroking his rooster.

This shot does not have a lot of objects, but I believe it is a powerful one as it focuses on the intensity of the relationship between the man and his proud crowning glory - his rooster.
