    Unlike the dominoes, cockfighting is a violent yet a respected pastime. It runs way back to ancient history of the Cuban ancestors. I was walking around in Trinidad one evening, and came across this proud man, gently stroking his rooster. This shot does not have a lot of objects, but I believe it is a powerful one as it focuses on the intensity of the relationship between the man and his proud crowning glory - his rooster. by: nraihanr Views[551] Just when I thought I have experienced Cuba in La Havana - with all its rich culture of street salsa dancing, cuban cigars, domino players, and siestas - I came across this beautiful sunset in a little town called Cienfuegos (translated to I am a big fan of antique buildings - especially when it comes to windows, balconies and doors. This is one of my lucky shots, as I managed to get the right composition and exposure within 5 seconds, before the light turned green! (I was on a double decker bus, going around La Havana) La Havana consisted of buildings which is similar to the one depicted in this photograph. Despite the richness of it's culture, Cuba still remains one of the countries with the highest poverty rate. by: nraihanr Views[620] Food rationing in Cuba is known as Libreta de Abastecimiento, where the system establishes not only the amount of food but also the frequency a household is allowed to purchase the goods. Frankly, I took it because I liked the antique weighing scale. It was later on that I realized the story captured - together with the background of sugar, flour and the Cuban woman - which depicts the hardship the locals have to go through to get about with their daily lives. by: nraihanr Views[992] The game of dominoes is well known to be Cuba's daily social event, that combines both competition with leisure. Although I have heard of it multiple times, I was still amazed when I actually saw groups of middle aged men playing at corners of the streets. This particular shot was taken somewhere in a local residential area in La Havana, the Cuban capital. by: nraihanr Views[306]
